Natural History

The Pryors are a rich resource for scientists, teachers, students – and fascinated lay naturalists. They offer opportunities for discovery in many areas of biology and geology. As an island rising nearly 5,000 ft above the surrounding plains, with limestone based soils, and their own climate in the rain shadow of the Beartooths, the Pryors have a broad diversity of unique ecosystems. The pages below provide brief introductions to several interesting topics in the Natural History of the Pryors.
